What is MCF?
- The Medical College Forum is the one day of the year when admission directors from medical schools come to meet you instead of making you fly out for interviews with them! Medical students also come out for candid discussions of the admission process. By coming to the forum, you can access to these important resources for improving your application.
So, how does this work?
- MCF opens with a general introduction where each school introduces themselves, providing brief overviews of their schools. This is followed by an open panel discussion with the medical school students before we break for lunch. The afternoon consists of 5 breakaway sessions during which time attendees cycle through the schools that hold the most interest for them. Lastly, the forum concludes informally with snacks and soda for both the attendees and speakers.
When/Where is MCF?
- This year, MCF will be on Saturday, March 29, 2008. It is being held on the second floor of the J. Wayne Reitz Union on the University of Florida campus. Directions to the J. Wayne Reitz Union can be found on our directions page.
How much does it cost?
- The pre-registration fee will be $15. The late registration fee will be $20.
When does registration open?
- Registration will open soon. Should you be unable to register and pay in advance, you can still show up the day of the event and be admitted. A late fee will be applied if this is the case.
Where can I pay my registration fee?
- All fees should be paid to the AMSA office located on the third floor of the J. Wayne Reitz Union, room 327 of the Student Activities Center.
What is included in the registration fee?
- Included in the registration fee is a stylish MCF shirt and a canvas tote bag filled with pens, notepads, and coupons to local businesses-- Not to mention the invaluable time you will spend with admission directors and medical school students! We also provide snacks following the forum.
- Lunch is not included in the price of registration although both Wendy's and Subway will be open in the downstairs lobby of the Reitz Union. In addition, there are many restaurants along University Avenue.
What should I wear?
- Business attire. Dress as if you are going to an interview. Many attendees choose to wear suits, but this is not required. Please do not wear jeans and flip-flops.
