What is the Equal Access Support Committee?

The Equal Access Support Committee is a volunteer organization comprised of highly motivated medical and premedical students. Every week, these volunteers admit, diagnose and treat patients who would otherwise not be able to afford healthcare. For more information about Equal Access Clinic, please visit the official website

How do I volunteer at the Equal Access Clinic?

Interested volunteers must apply and interview with the Equal Access directors. We open applications for new volunteers at the beginning of each semester at UF. In order to be considered for an interview, you must be a member of Premed AMSA as well as be in Good Standing with the organization for at least one semester prior to applying.

Where do I find the application?

A link to the application will be provided on the EASC home page and the UF Premed AMSA main page. This link will only be available at the beginning of each semester when we are looking for new members.

How often am I required to volunteer at the Clinic?

For their first semester, all new members must complete a total of six days of volunteering. Three of these days will be devoted to shadowing, and three will be actual clinic days. Returning members, who have already completed shadowing, are required to volunteer three days every semester. However, most members often volunteer more than that! Clinics are always from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursdays.

When is the Equal Access Clinic open?

The Equal Access Clinic is open only on Thursdays. The doors are open from 6:00 pm to 9:30pm, but volunteers should arrive at the clinic by 5:00pm to help set up.

Where is the Clinic located?

It is located at the corner of 6th Street and 4th Avenue

What do volunteers do at the Clinic?

The clinic provides the unique opportunity to become a part of the Gainesville medical community. Volunteers are involved in almost every aspect of the clinic. They do patient intakes, collect histories, and take vital signs. A few members can even stay behind and shadow medical students during the patient interview.

What else is required of the volunteers?

Volunteers are also required to attend any committee meetings that we may have, raise $200 for the clinic each year, and attend our annual 5K Run in April. Since our members do not have to re-apply each semester, we expect them to work with the clinic until they graduate from UF.
